New Eyeglass Guide Materials on TOM

Resources Help Educate Patients About Eyewear Options

Encourage your patients to try new options in frames and lenses with new customizable tools based on the popular consumer Eyeglass Guide education program - available free through the Transitions Online Marketing (TOM) tool.

You can create your own marketing campaign that communicates the value of vision wear and premium lens options to your patients with the following materials now available online at www.TransitionsTOM.com:

  • Postcard - Encourage your patients to schedule their next eye appointment today, and to visit www.EyeglassGuide.com to learn more about lens options and to determine what lenses will work best for them.
  • Eyeglass Guide Flyer - Personalize this resource with your practice logo and information, then distribute it to your patients or display it in your office. Similar to the Eyeglass Guide, the handout details the benefits of different lens materials and types, as well as vision enhancements such as AR coatings and photochromics.
  • Sight Line Patient Newsletter - Send the new Eyeglass Guide edition of this publication to your patients to keep vision top-of-mind between appointments.

We hope you will take advantage of these exciting new resources to help your patients 'turn over a new leaf' in their eyewear decisions this fall!

Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund and Eyeglass Guide Web Sites Now in Spanish

Resources Spread Healthy Sight Message to Hispanic Patients

Transitions is introducing new educational resources to help you teach your Hispanic patients about the importance of regular eye exams and UV protection. Two of its popular Web sites - the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund and the Eyeglass Guide - are now available in Spanish.

Found at www.VisionSaludableparaTodalaVida.com, the Transitions Healthy Sight for Life Fund Web site provides general information about the Fund and encourages consumers to take charge of their eye health by taking preventative steps to optimize and protect their vision today and in the future. As you probably know, this is especially relevant to Hispanic Americans, who are more prone to certain debilitating eye-related diseases. You can link this Web site to your own as an added resource for patients, and be sure to request educational brochures in Spanish or an educational video to play in your office waiting room.

The Spanish Eyeglass Guide Web site, found at
www.AprendaSobreAnteojos.com, can be especially helpful during the dispensing process. Similar to the print version of the guide, the Web site educates consumers about the wide range of eyewear choices available and encourages them to take a short, five-minute quiz prior to their appointment. Topics include options in frames, lenses and the benefits of premium products such as Transitions® lenses. Through the online Eyeglass Guide, you can order Spanish versions of an in-office poster and counter card to display in office.

Take advantage of these resources to educate your Hispanic patients about their healthy sight options!

Transitions and Prevent Blindness America Educate on UV Protection

Campaign Educates Millions on UV Exposure and Protective Eyewear

The days are shorter and the air is crisper, but that doesn't mean your patients should let their guard down against the sun's harmful UV rays!

With support from the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund - Prevent Blindness America has been working hard to educate consumers about the importance of year-round UV protection of the eyes. As part of its ongoing UV Awareness campaign, Prevent Blindness America teamed up with Transitions to launch a new online UV Learning Center in May during its national UV awareness month. To date, the site has educated more than 300,000 visitors about the dangers of UV exposure to the eyes - providing them with tips on sun protection and encouraging them to take a short quiz to test their UV knowledge.

Be sure to encourage your patients to visit the site at
www.PreventBlindness.org/UV, and don't forget to request complimentary copies of educational materials available through the Fund at
www.HealthySightforLife.com.

New Education to Keep You Telling the Best Story

Skills Workshop and Quick Study Module Complement "Best Story" Prizes

Transitions is providing new tools to help you create your "best story" by expanding on its Telling the Best Story lecture course with a two-part Skills Workshop and a Quick Study module.

This education series, developed by Tim Fortner of Transitions, helps eyecare professionals like you improve their clinical, managerial and marketing skills to help grow business and connect with patients in more meaningful ways. The new Skills Workshop examines three key areas of management and offers benchmarks to measure financial progress, set goals and increase patient satisfaction. A Quick Study module complements the workshop and is available as part of Transitions Optical's STAR Lab Learn & Earn program. Review the module and complete a quiz to earn a chance for a quarterly cash prize drawing!

Don't forget that Transitions wants you to share your "best story" about how you engage your patients. Submit your story to earn a chance to be recognized in future materials and win $100! For example, Dr. Randolph Brooks from Advanced Eyecare Associates in Ledgewood, New Jersey, shared his success story about integrating the InfantSEE® public health program into his practice to promote infant eye health screenings at no cost to the community.

Submit your own stories by calling Transitions Customer Service at (800) 848-1506 or e-mailing them to customerservice@transitions.com.

Transitions Introduces New Certificate of Authenticity

Sales of Transitions® Lenses Benefit a Healthy Sight Cause

This fall, you can help support a healthy sight cause by urging your patients to register their Transitions® lenses using the new Transitions Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

From November 1 through April 2008, each time your patients register their Transitions lenses using the COA a donation will be made to Prevent Blindness America through the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund. If patients register online, and pledge to protect their healthy sight and the healthy sight of their family, a bonus donation will be made to one of the community charities supported by the Fund.

For every registration, the eyecare professional that sold the lenses will earn points redeemable for merchandise!

For more information about the COA and the new points program, contact Transitions Optical Customer Service at (800) 848-1506.

Vision Expo West Booth Winners

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Transitions booth at Vision Expo West! Attendees were among the first to learn about the latest resources available from Transitions - including new education to help when dispensing to kids and Hispanic patients. Visitors were also provided with updates on the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund and the consumer Eyeglass Guide - including new educational resources available on the Transitions Online Marketing (TOM) tool.

Another buzz-worthy item during VEW was the Transitions Medications Database - www.transitions.com/medications - which is now available for download to a Palm or Windows Mobile PDA.
