Get Healthy Sight, Give Healthy Sight

Promotion Offers Patients and ECPs the Chance to Win $10,000 While Giving Back

Beginning in June, consumers who Get Healthy Sight with the purchase of Transitions® lenses can enter to win $10,000 by completing a survey and registering with their Transitions Certificate of Authenticity (COA).

Consumers who register online also have the chance to win up to $10,000 instantly – and can Give Healthy Sight – in an online scratch-off game that benefits the Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund. The game starts with a “guaranteed win” of $1, with patients risking their winnings as they attempt to spell “Healthy Sight” and win $10,000 instantly. Scratching off an incorrect letter results in loss of all winnings; however, a donation will be made through the Transitions Healthy Sight for Life Fund regardless, so everyone is a winner!

The Get Healthy Sight. Give Healthy Sight. scratch and win promotion also rewards ECPs for reinforcing the healthy sight benefits of Transitions lenses. ECPs earn a chance to win a $10,000 grand prize, and 200 points for the Transitions E-Store, each time their location ID is included with a COA registration.

ECPs already registered to participate should look for their promotion kit at the end of May. The kit includes tools to help spark excitement about the promotion and communicate the importance of healthy sight with patients, including a sales sheet and a point-of-sale display.

If you are not registered to participate, visit www.transitions.com/trustedworldwide or call Transitions Optical Customer Service at (800) 848-1506, ext. 7448.

New Resources Stress Diabetes/Eye Health Connection

Materials Highlight Vision Needs of Diabetics and Encourage Dialogue

Recognizing that most consumers are unaware that diabetes can impact healthy sight, Transitions is introducing new educational materials to help you address the special eye health needs of your diabetic patients.

Recently released through the Transitions Partners in Education™ program, a clinical paper, Healthy Sight Counseling: Diabetes and the Eye, provides insights into the impact of diabetes on eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, cataract and macular degeneration. It also discusses increased susceptibility to UV damage, reduction in contrast sensitivity and increased sensitivity to glare as complications often linked to diabetes.

Diabetes and the Eye shows how you can use Healthy Sight Counseling to not only provide early detection of the disease through an eye exam, but also to educate patients about the importance of using protective eyewear, such as Transitions® lenses and AR coatings. In addition, new educational posters encourage patients to talk with you about risk factors for diabetes-related eye damage.

Community Grants Promote Healthy Sight

Five Organizations Receive Funding Through Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund

The Transitions® Healthy Sight for Life Fund has awarded Community Grants to five regional organizations to help support their efforts and dedication to healthy sight. The efforts of these organizations are in line with the mission of the Fund – to help preserve healthy sight for life – and we are honored to support them.

  • Butler County Association for the Blind facilitates a Prevention of Blindness program that provides screening for approximately 7,000 children a year at 83 sites.
  • Camden Eye Center (CEC) SIGHT FIRST FOR KIDS program provides free and low-cost eye care to the economically disadvantaged residents of Camden City.
  • The Center for the Partially Sighted provides public education about maintaining healthy vision in Southern California via heath care and social workers.
  • Deicke Center for Visual Rehabilitation travels to schools throughout Illinois, offering low-vision clinics for children in grades K-12 with severe visual impairments.
  • Vision Health International (VHI) is a U.S.-based, non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to the delivery of free vision-care services and sight-restoring surgery to the medically underserved populations in Latin America.

Transitions believes that with common goals and a dedication to healthy sight, the optical industry can inspire consumers to make the most of their vision today and to take care of their eye health for tomorrow

You can join the cause. Submissions for additional grants are now being accepted through the “For Professionals” section of the Fund’s Web site. The community grant program provides one-time funding and other support for eyecare professionals, optical laboratories, local charity groups or regional associations that are seeking to promote healthy sight in their communities.
